What, How & Why: A Closer Look - Featuring Brigid Smith

At iPrintfromHome.com, we work with artists and photographers from across the United States and Canada. We're inspired everyday by the images that they send to us and by the stories they share.
In our "What, How & Why" interview series, we take a closer look at some of these fascinating people.

We've asked each participating artist or photographer three simple questions:

1. What do you do?

2. How do you do it?
3. Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?

Please read on to find out more about Brigid Smith.

Brigid Smith
Digital Artist
Seattle, WA

What do you do?
I do digital paintings and illustrations of colorful and fantastic people, places, and things.

How do you do it?
I use a graphics tablet that I have had for literally 12 years (bought it with the allowance I scrimped and saved in 7th grade) and Gimp, which is a free and open-source alternative to PhotoShop. Recently, I've also been trying to experiment with other mediums like ink and watercolor, but digital will always likely be my favorite.

Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?
Now that I'm out of college and into the "real world", I'm nursing the dream of quitting my day job someday to become an artist. Since I do mostly digital, I need a place to get prints made, and iPrintfromHome.com has consistently offered me the best prices and nearly the fastest service of all the printers I've tried.

What, How & Why: A Closer Look - Featuring Andrea Doss

At iPrintfromHome.com, we work with artists and photographers from across the United States and Canada. We're inspired everyday by the images that they send to us and by the stories they share.
In our "What, How & Why" interview series, we take a closer look at some of these fascinating people.

2. How do you do it?
3. Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?

Please read on to find out more about Andrea Doss.

Andrea Doss
Artist
Paris, TX

What do you do?
I am an artist who specializes in whimsical storybook style art. My work is inspired by the imaginations of my two little girls and everything I create has a story to go along with it. I sell my work worldwide, have been commissioned by several children's hospitals, designed art for a children's textile company, have had my work appear on television and movies, and illustrated children's books for a children's book publisher.

How do you do it?
I primarily work with acrylic paints, using both thick and thin strokes to build layers, texture, and details. I usually have a lot of assistance from my fuzzy gray cat, Poe. She's almost 20 years old and considers herself to be quite the art critic.

Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?

Before I found iPrintfromHome.com, I had many requests for prints of my work, but since I don't have a quality printer to work with and there are not a lot of printshop options where I live, creating prints was either difficult or very pricey.

Debra Keirce
Painter
Broadlands, VA

What do you do?
I am a contemporary realist painter. I paint what I fancy, mostly still life, in oils and acrylics. My goal is to create art that invites the viewer to look closer. I find that small art does this best, and I specialize in art from 2 inches to 2 feet tall.

How do you do it?
I use a magnifying lens and sharp tools to finesse details out of tiny spaces as I paint. I enjoy demonstrating my miniature art painting techniques.

Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?

iPrintfromHome is not the first print company I have used, but it is consistently the one that produces the best images. I have not been disappointed by iPrintfromHome, and the quality of prints has been better than prints I have paid much more for. I am a loyal customer.
