What, How & Why: A Closer Look - Featuring Shelley Zatsky

At iPrintfromHome.com, we work with artists and photographers from across the United States and Canada. We're inspired everyday by the images that they send to us and by the stories they share.

In our "What, How & Why" interview series, we take a closer look at some of these fascinating people.

We've asked each participating artist or photographer three simple questions:

1. What do you do?
2. How do you do it?
3. Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?

Please read on to find out more about Shelley Zatsky.

Shelley Zatsky
Photographer
Melrose, MA

What do you do?
I have been taking pictures for almost 20 years. I have a BFA in Photography from CalArts and an MFA from Tufts University/SMFA, Boston. I photograph library materials for Harvard University for my day job and I photograph historical architecture for my current personal project.

How do you do it?
I use a Hasseblad medium format camera with a 60mm lens. I travel to various sites that have been listed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 11 Most Endangered lists to take pictures. I'm interested in impermanence as how it relates to architecture. I've been working on it for 6 years and I'm currently trying to raise money on Kickstarter to continue with this project.

Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com?
I started using iPrintfromHome to turn digital files into slides, I continue to use them because of the great customer service and awesome product they deliver. I'm hoping my Kickstarter Campaign is successful so I can get all of the editions printed with iPrintfromhome!

Identity: A Photographic Collection by Marcus L. Wise

iPrintfromHome.com is pleased to present Identity: A Photographic Collection by Marcus L. Wise.

Show runs April 29-June 3, 2011

Where: iPrintfromHome.com/Campos Group
1016 Niagara Falls Blvd
Tonawanda, NY 14150

Artist’s Statement:
“Identity” is an abstract autobiography of my experience as an outsider. I grew up the only non-white kid in my suburban community. I came out publicly at school and at home at the age of 15. I dropped out, moved out, and became a part of Buffalo’s fringe communities- gay youth, and drug culture. I was always on the outside of the mainstream. Others defined my identity by what I was not to them.

It wasn’t until much later in life that I accepted the things that make me different, and chose to celebrate them. In “Identity”, I have created mini-installations that form abstract landscapes or stories that suggest and reflect the solitary beauty of being divergent, different, misunderstood.

Wise is the Owner of 464 and Blink Galleries in Buffalo and is the President of the Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo. Wise, a University at Buffalo graduate, grew up in Hamburg NY, and has lived in the city of Buffalo for the past 18 years.

Show runs March 30-April 22, 2011

Where: iPrintfromHome.com/Campos Group

Artist’s Bio:
I have always enjoyed photography. For as long as I can remember, I have always been entranced by how professionals created such beautiful art!

Back in 2000 I entered a photo into the Kodak Y2K Digital Quilt and, surprisingly, I won one of the categories. From that moment on there was a fire in me that I could not put out. I had to learn everything I could about photography, and so my journey to becoming a professional began.

Over the course of 2 years, I learned all I could and experimented in different styles until I found a genre that I liked, and it happened to be portraiture. I have come to realize that I absolutely LOVE what I do. I love being able to have a family, or better yet a child, in my studio or to be on a location shoot and let them have fun in front of my camera! I try to build a relationship with my clients, to let them know that I value them as a person and as a client.

I have been published in Drum Magazine with a portrait of a local Buffalo Drummer Nick Mason and I have been published as well in The National Black Belt Magazine when I covered their 2009 Annual Grand Championship Tournament. Over the years I have helped out with different area photography organizations such as the Buffalo Photography Meetup Group and the Buffalo Modeling Meetup Group, both of which I was an assistant organizer. During this time I began to focus more on what I love to shoot and it became clear that it was families and children.

This brings me to the show that I am featuring at iPrintfromHome.com! I have yet to see another photographer in the WNY area that has done as many Tutu shoots as I have done and I aim to be the best in our area that I can be. So if you are looking to have your little princess dress up for me and have me capture her innocence and attitude to be remembered for a lifetime, or if you just want some memories of your family to be captured and shared with others, then please contact me at shelley@shelleykuhnphotography.com to set up an appointment for a studio or location shoot.

Drop Shipping Services

iPrintfromHome.com is pleased to offer drop shipping services so that you can send your orders directly to your clients. All you need to do is select “Drop ship to my client/friend” when you select your shipping address during the order placement process.

If you select to have your order drop shipped, your order will be shipped without an invoice or any promotional materials. We will also remove our company name from the return address and send your package in a plain mailer or box without any identifying markings.

For Photographic Prints, we typically include "backprinting" on the back of each print, which includes the name of your file (if the file name is not too long) as well as your iPrintfromHome.com order number. If you do not want backprinting on your prints, please send us an email immediately after your order has been placed to let us know and we will gladly accommodate your request.

We're always looking to improve our services and many of our improvements come as a direct result of customer requests. If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'd love to hear what you have to say.

As always, thank you for your continued support of iPrintfromHome.com.

Thanks,
the iPrintfromHome.com team

Artist's talk at 7pm
Show runs March 4 – March 25, 2011

iPrintfromHome.com is pleased to present Life on a Coral Reef, featuring photography by Mary Lou Frost.

Artist’s Bio:
I enjoyed photography as a hobby, in a rather casual way, for most of my adult life. After I turned 50 I became more adventurous and began scuba diving which led me to underwater photography, something I have enjoyed for 27 years.

During the past 10 years I have turned my attention almost fully to digital
photography. My images have been exhibited at the Buffalo Museum of Science, The Amherst Center for Senior Services and have received recognition in competition. In 2009, I received the Kodak Award for Photographic Excellence from the Niagara Frontier Regional Camera Clubs and the Dorothy Ralph Essay Trophy from the Science Museum Camera Club. I am currently president of the Science Museum Camera Club where I have made presentations on the techniques of digital photography.

I have become an instructor in photography for Elderhostel at sites in Utah and Colorado administered by the Pingree Park campus of Colorado State University. I am also presenting workshops in digital photography at the Amherst Senior Center and other sites in Western New York.

If you are interested in booking a workshop, please contact me at mfrost@roadrunner.com.

Love is in the Air - part 3

Thank you for making this "Love is in the Air" campaign such a success. We're sending out "Thank You Dollars" every day. And we're gaining Facebook fans at a pretty good clip.

(Click here to read about the $50 credits we'll be giving out at the beginning of March)

In this last installment, we want to tell you about a couple tools you can use to spread the word about iPrintfromHome.com and pad up those "Thank You Dollars" accounts.

Request a Custom Link
We would be happy to provide you with a custom link to post on your website, blog, Facebook page, etc. The link will contain tracking information so that we can automatically credit you for any new customers who come to our site and register as a result of clicking on your link.

To request a link for your website, please click here to send us an e-mail.

New Customer Promotion
When you recommend our services to your friends, let them know about our New Customer Promotion. All new accounts created at iPrintfromHome.com are eligible for a $10 account credit

Although you won't be able to get the $10 "New Customer" credit, you can use this offer to spread the word about our services and entice people to try us out. For each person that you send to iPrintfromHome.com, you can earn up to $12.00 in account credit.

Tell your friends to enter “TWEET-your name” (i.e. Tweet-Jane Doe) in the registration box when they create their accounts. This way we can give you credit for the referral (see "Thank You Dollars" program) and give your friend the $10 new customer credit.
