Urban Thermodynamics

iPrintfromHome.com is pleased to present Urban Thermodynamics by Buffalo photographer, Chuck Alaimo. This new body of work is an exploration into the beauty we take for granted in our urban world. The exhibit will be his first show with iPrintfromHome.com and will be comprised of small to medium pieces using various techniques of HDR processing. The opening reception of Urban Thermodynamics will be held at iPrintfromHome.com on January 28th, from 5-9. The exhibit will be on display through February, 19th and is free and open to the public.

Chuck Alaimo’s pieces will feature a technique and processing known as HDR photography (High Dynamic Range). Using this technique Chuck creates images full of color and wonder, possessing an almost supernatural glow.
Within Urban Thermodynamics, Chuck explores the urban world in search of the innate beauty in our everyday environment. From the well-known landmarks, to a dusty alley, Urban Thermodynamics is sure to produce images that make the eyes pop and the senses tingle.

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Chuck Alaimo is a promising talent currently working as a freelance Photographer. Chuck has been gaining attention on the strength of his unique approach and abilities as a live band and event photographer. In the fall of 2009, he had his first solo exhibition Within the Moment, at 464 Gallery on Amherst St in Buffalo, NY.

New & Improved "View/Edit Order" Page

Watch this video for a brief introduction to the New & Improved "View/Edit Order" Screen at iPrintfromHome.com.

When placing an order in the iPrintfromHome.com traditional ordering system, click on "View/Edit Order" prior to proceeding to the checkout. When you make changes to your Printing Preferences, you will now be able to see how those changes will affect your order by viewing onscreen preview images.

This will give you the opportunity to experiment with different cropping and border options, to see what you like best, prior to proceeding to the checkout.

There will be more improvements to come in 2011 - keep your eyes peeled!

New Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit

This past winter we introduced an updated version of our Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit. We've given out a bunch, but many of you are still working off the older version. If you would like to receive a new one, please click here to enter your request.

Our Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit serves two main purposes. I bet you already know what they are….

First, it’s a sample pack of the various papers that we use to make prints here at iPrintfromHome.com. We think it’s important for you to see an actual sample of the papers (and hold them in your hand and up to the light, etc.) so that you can get a good idea of which paper would best suit your purposes. This is the first time that we're including samples of the Canvas and Photo Inkjet Papers in the kit. We're excited to be able to show you a complete sampling of the various papers that are available.

We’ve also printed a Calibration Control Image on each sample piece of paper so that you can compare how the same image is reproduced by different papers and production processes. This should help you make your decision between the various types of papers.

The digital file that we used to print the Calibration Control Image on each piece of paper is also available for download on our website. This brings us to the second intended use for the Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit. After you download the Calibration Control Image, you will be able to compare the digital file that you see on your computer screen to the print you are holding in your hand. If the colors match, then you’re all set. If they don’t, then you’ll want to make some adjustments to your files or your monitor to ensure that your prints meet your expectations.

If you would like to receive a new Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit, please click here to enter your request. Please keep in mind that if the response is overwhelming, there may be delays. However, we will send your kit out as soon as possible.

As always, thank you for your continued support of iPrintfromHome.com!

Thanks,
the iPrintfromHome.com team

Happy New Year!

Each year, when we look back at what we've done the last 12 months and try to figure out what worked & what didn't, patterns emerge that help us focus our energies moving forward.

One of the most interesting projects we worked on in 2010 was the "What, How, Why" interview series. We asked fourteen artists & photographers 3 simple questions: (1) What do you do? (2) How do you do it? (3) Why do you use iPrintfromHome.com? The end result was a series of 14 mini profiles featuring a wide range of talented folks and some very cool imagery. Looking back at the individual stories, we keep finding ourselves thinking how lucky we are to have the opportunity to work with such interesting & talented people. If you missed any of the stories, or you'd like to take a second look, click here to read more.

Another big project that we worked on this year came about as a result of listening to and acting on your suggestions: we nearly doubled the size of our product offerings. In July 2009, we introduced a whole bunch of square sizes, panoramic sizes & some other non-standard sizes. We also started offering mounting and laminating services, which has been a great success. We still have a host of options that we'd like to make available and we're working on improving the ordering system constantly. There will be new additions & improvements to come in 2011. Keep your eyes out for our eNewsletters and please don't hesitate to contact us with your suggestions.

The pattern that we see emerging, both in the examples discussed above and other projects we work on daily, is a real focus on developing and supporting this community of artists and photographers that make up the iPrintfromHome.com family. We really love working with you. All of you, whether you spend your time behind cameras, in front of easels, or chasing your kids with your point-and-shoot in hand, all share something very special in common. You see beauty in the world and can't help but share it. We know that you have plenty of choice out there, and we're so happy that you choose to share your images with us.

From your loyalty and your support it is clear that you continue to understand the power of working with a team that is intent on helping you get exactly what you want. Thanks for giving us the opportunity and for trusting us with the process of imaging your imagination.

As much as we have enjoyed this last year, we feel like kids, bubbling with excitement, anticipating the year to come.

As always, thank you for your continued support of iPrintfromHome.com!

Happy New Year!

Thanks,
George, Sara & the iPrintfromHome.com team

It's a Wonderful World

During the holiday season, as the end of the year draws near, we can't help but think of how thankful we are to get the opportunity to work with people like you. At iPrintfromHome.com, we have the pleasure of working with all sorts of different people, but you all share at least one thing in common.

Some of you spend your time observing light and positioning yourself to take photographs at exactly the right moment. Others spend their time in front of easels with paint brushes, pens & pencils...some of you even make your own materials. And still more of you go about your daily lives, working the 9-5 grind, but you have a keen eye and always have camera close by.

No matter which category you fall into (or maybe you don't fall into any), if you're reading this right now, you have the gift of an artist's sensibility. You see beauty in the world and can't help but share it. We're so happy that you choose to share your images with us. After all, it's a wonderful world...

Wishing you the very best this holiday season and in the coming year.

As always, thank you for your continued support of iPrintfromHome.com.

Thanks,
the iPrintfromHome.com team
