About Alana:
Alana Adetola Fajemisin is a native of Buffalo, New York. She received a dual Bachelor’s degree from the State University at Buffalo with a concentration in Fine Arts Painting & Art History.

Her masterfully created oil paintings deal with issues focused around social stratification and the climbing of the social hierarchy ladder performed by physical dominance as well as social interactions. Her paintings often portray coordinated responses to the environmental stimuli that allow us to more effectively interact with our surroundings.

Alana is currently working towards her Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies with a concentration in Education and Community Engagement. She has worked as the Community Programs Coordinator for Main (St)udios and currently works as a Freelance Oil Painter and Portrait Photographer from her attic-studio. Alana also curates quarterly exhibitions for one of Buffalo’s leading restaurants, Kaydara Noodle Bar, located in downtown Buffalo.

She was a three time recipient of the Morrison Scholarship Award while attending UB. Her oil paintings have found homes within the collections of The Vault Arthaus, formally located in downtown Buffalo, as well as a number of personal local, regional and international collections.

Fajemisin’s work has been included in group exhibitions at The Burchfield Penney Arts Center, The UB Center for the Arts, The UB Anderson Gallery, The Buffalo Arts Studio, 464 Art Gallery, The Vault Arthaus, Kaydara Noodle Bar, Filigrees Gallery & Boutique, Spot Coffee, El Beuno Amigo, The Czurles-Nelson Gallery, The Silo City grain elevators, The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, The Avant Building, Main (St)udios, and downtown Buffalo’s very ownArtspace Lofts.

Fauxtales: a mini-series of drawings by Chuck Tingley

iPrintfromHome.com is pleased to present Fauxtales, a mini-series of drawings by Buffalo artist, Chuck Tingley. Please join us for the opening reception this Wednesday night at iPrintfromHome.com.

Date: Wednesday, October 27th 2010
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: iPrintfromHome.com/the Campos Group
1016 Niagara Falls Blvd.
Tonawanda, NY 14150
On View: October 27 – November 27, 2010

This new body of work shows a continuation of the artist's realistic approach to artwork through his vivid imagination. This exhibit will be his first show with iPrintfromHome.com and will be comprised of 7-9 small to medium pieces using the technique of drawing and collage on canvas. The opening reception of Fauxtales will be held at iPrintfromHome.com on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 5-8 pm. The exhibit will be on display through November 27, 2010 and is free and open to the public.

In Fauxtales, Chuck Tingley explores the meaning behind the text in short stories and fairytales by manipulating the character’s physical features in order to transcend the reality of the narrative. Tingley positions his figures in front of a collage of book print, letting the words dictate the story. Through these new works, Tingley takes classic fairytales and stories and makes them his own. The exhibition will be comprised of mixed media on canvas (pencil, paper, collage, canvas).

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Chuck Tingley is a promising young talent currently working towards his BFA in painting at Buffalo State College. Tingley has been gaining attention on the strength of his unique and emotionally profound style of artwork. Earlier this year, he had his first solo exhibition, Emotional Effusion, at 464 Gallery on Amherst St, Buffalo, NY.

Artist's Statement:

I have been taking pictures since I was around twelve years old. When I was in my final year of high school, I started to take it more seriously and realized that I wanted to go to college to learn more. Over the past few years, I have realized I learn the most from making my own mistakes, and talking with other people who share my infatuation with photography. I have also learned that photography is my number one passion, and something I want to pursue for the rest of my life.

I like to photograph anything and everything, but I love to photograph people; more specifically women. I find pure elegance and beauty in the many emotions of women.

I appreciate anyone and everyone’s opinions, and I love to be inspired by other people’s work and creativity. I hope to produce many more photographs in my lifetime and one day proudly look back and see my growth as an artist.
